Primo Conti
Primo Conti (Florence, 1900 – Fiesole, 1988) was an exceptionally precocious talent of 20th-century Italian art. He painted his first canvas at just eleven years old and joined the founders of Futurism as early as 1913, later co-founding the Florentine Futurist Group in 1917. A versatile innovator, he connected with figures like Picasso, launched avant-garde and Dada-inspired journals, and designed set and costume pieces for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. From the 1930s onward, his marriage to Munda Cripps and the birth of his daughters inspired a more intimate, poetic phase in his painting. Professor of Painting at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts and the subject of major retrospectives at Palazzo Strozzi and Palazzo Pitti, Conti spent his final years writing before passing away in Fiesole, where he rests today at his Foundation.
